| KublaCon presents special guest Charles Sharp - Military tactician and historical game designer Charles has been playing historical boardgames since 1962, historical miniatures since 1971, and historical computer games since 1986. A retireed Army First Sergeant with a degree in history from Pennsylvania State University, he also taught himself to read Russian and French, spent twenty years researching the Soviet Army in World War Two, and has written a 12-volume set of booklets on the orders of battle and units of the Red Army 1941 to 1945. He followed up that set by translating copies of the German and Soviet armored tactics manuals and the Soviet infantry tactical manual of 1942. Charles has provided Soviet order of battle information for several board game companies, including The Gamers and Games Workshop. He has also researched background data for scenarios to several computer game companies producing Eastern Front games. In historical miniatures, Charles wrote the Marlborough Supplement to the popular Age of Reason 18th century rules and most recently helped with the research and writing of the BattleFront rules, which simulate tactical battles in World War Two. He was a guest lecturer at the Origins War College for over six years and has also lectured at several EuropeFests and the DragonFlight convention in Seattle. Charles joins KublaCon 2004 to help us in our first ever War College. Attend one of his lectures, or play in one of his games! |
