Guido Teuber, Game Designer

Guido Teuber was born in 1973 in Darmstadt, Germany, the son of the world-famous game designer Klaus Teuber. He earned his BA in Political Science at the University of New Orleans, and an MA in International Affairs from George Washington University. He became a permanent resident of the United States in 1997, and now lives in the Bay Area with his wife Emily Johnson and their happy infant son Liam.

Guido has always loved playing board games, and now his dream of working in the board game industry has come true. He got his start helping his father develop the wildly popular Settlers of Catan, and has continued to provide creative input on a number of game designs both in Germany and the United States.

He works as the Managing Director of Catan GmbH/LLC, working to improve the exchange of board game designs between Germany and the United States. He also works very closely with Mayfair Games, playtesting and helping in development to make their games as close to the vision of the original German designs as possible. In his free time, he likes to play Irish Folk music on his guitar, travelling, and riding his bike.

He is particularly interested in various forms of art and cuisine, as well as keeping current on the latest news. His favorite "fun" game is Bausack, and he loves to play while drinking New Castle Brown Ale. KublaCon attendees will get a chance to meet, and play, with Guido -- and perhaps share an ale!
