From special rooms for young players and teens, to events created just for our 'mini-mongols', we've got fun planned for all ages.
Young Player Programs at KublaCon
KublaCon understands that gaming covers a broad range of ages, and that the games and style of play can vary significantly across those age groups. From very young players, to 'tweens', to 'teens' and adults, we strive to create a great gaming experience for all ages.
When it comes to the younger crowd, we've created a few programs to specifically address their needs. We have our 'Young Players' room that hosts players as young as eight. We also have our 'teen' area, that provides an opportunity for a safe and fun gaming environment that allows our teen players a bit more independance and the chance to play with similar aged guests.
We've also encouraged our volunteer GM's to run "YP" (Young Player) and TEEN appropriate games. The list of these games can be found in our online schedule, and in a special section of our program book.
To ensure that everyone, including parents and volunteers, have a great experience with our Young Player and Teen programs, there are rules and guidelines for each area. Please review them!
- YOUNG PLAYER'S ROOM
Location: Sandpebble A
Hours: Friday, 2-9pm, Sat/Sun 9am-9pm, Monday 9am-noon
Ages: 8-12, players younger than 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (at Staff discretion)
The room has both open gaming (walk-in events) and scheduled events throughout the convention.Just bring your enthusiasm and play!! (Or, come and learn some new games!)
The Young Players room provides organized play for game-playing children who want to learn and play age-appropriate games. The room will be open until 9pm with the last hour dedicated to the Bedtime Stories event.
This is NOT a childcare center! Children under 8 must be accompanied by a parent. Parents must be at the convention and they must be reachable. Young players who do not "play well with others" will be asked to leave. Parents wanting to drop their young players off at the YP gaming room must first check in with the staff member at the front of the room and fill out an information sheet.
Games for all ages are available! The YP room has an extensive library that includes: Fluxx, Mad, Apples-to-Apples Junior, Settlers of Catan, BattleCattle, Give Me the Brain, Fire & Ice, Kill Dr. Lucky, Jungle Speed, Og, Bitin' Off Heads, Safari Jack, Cargo, Lunch Money, Gulo Gulo, Chicken Cha-Cha-Cha, and MORE!!!!
Have games your kids have out grown? We are always looking for new great games appropriate for younger players. Feel free to donate new or used (in good condition with all pieces) games to the YP room. We also can always use dice (any sided). - TEEN ROOM

The Teen room is home base for Teen related gaming fun! Wanting to play more advanced games than your younger siblings, but don't really like hanging with friends of your parents? Then come to the Teen room to play or teach games with like minded… and like-aged… KublaConians!
We will have a ton of board games available; scheduled and pick-up RPGs… and whatever else YOU bring to the room! - YOUNG PLAYER AND TEEN EVENTS
The two lists below show scheduled games that are specifically geared toward our Young Players or Teens.
If the event code has an asterisk next to it, then players who are interested in this event will have to sign up through our shuffler. (How to sign up for games) Otherwise, there will be sign up sheets in the YP or Teen areas.
Note that some events are YP/TEEN friendly and may include players of all ages. Events that are run in the "Sandpble" rooms are in our Young Players Room and are only for young players, while events that are run in the "Bayside" rooms are in our dedicated TEEN Room and are only for teen players.
