Department Reports Producer's Report KublaCon's just around the corner! And while there are many things that I could mention about the exciting event we're planning... there's ONE thing I just have to say: Role Playing Greetings and Salutations to all you Gamers! We want to thank all of you who have submitted games to run at the Convention. We may be the ones who organize it, but it’s people like you that put on the show. So we give a big “Hooty Hoo!” to those that have helped us out and have brought their games to the best game convention anywhere. You say you didn’t get your game in? Well it’s still not too late to help out and participate. KublaCon is on a pace to attract well over 2000 people for a third year in a row and that requires a LOT of help to run smoothly. All you need to do is volunteer for 8 hours and your admission to the convention is free. If you have already paid for admission, you will get that refunded to you at the Con after you have put in your 8 hours. This is also a great way for bringing your friends, relatives and significant others to KublaCon and get them involved with and/or introducing them to all of the gaming goodness for free. There are many slots open for volunteering so if you are interested in helping out, send our Volunteer Coordinator (Angel Brocket) an email to let her know. The RPGA has almost 70 events scheduled with over 20 different modules for RPGA players to participate in this year. We are currently estimating that there will be over 130 tables worth of games making KublaCon one of the largest RPGA events in the West Coast for the whole year! Warhorn is open again for pre-registering your RPGA characters for all of these events and you can check it out at: http://www.warhorn.net/kublacon2006 We also have many Beginner’s Track, Young Players and Demo RPG events as well. So combined with the 150 Role Playing Games scheduled, we our proud to announce that we will have well over 275 games for Role Playing enthusiasts like you to enjoy this year. Woo Hoo! Here is just a small listing of our special RPG Guests and Events: Keith Baker who is the lead author of the Eberron Campaign Setting and various other D20 sourcebooks will be joining us at KublaCon this year. He has agreed to run a two Eberron D20 games for us (among other things) so be on the lookout for these exciting events. For all of you Browncoats out there, special guest Jamie Chambers (author of the Serenity RPG system) and his Sovereign Press publishing company will be present in the Dealers Room this year. Not only that, he has promised to GM a few Serenity games for as well. Woo Hoo! The owner of Hero Games, Darren Watts will also be in the Dealers Room and he will be running a few Hero Games for us and give you the opportunity to roleplay with the biggest superhero in the universe… Himself! Dungeon Majesty will be attending KublaCon again. Last year they shot their 7th episode “The Khan of Khans!” on site at KublaCon and we will hopefully be screening it for your viewing pleasure. Thomas Denmark (creator of the Dungeoneer card game) will be running an event for his new Dungeoneer role-playing system. This is of course based on his very popular card game and we can’t wait to see it. Proving Ground Productions is once again running their ever popular dungeon crawl / battle royal adventure, Waterdeep Scavenger Hunt where 4 groups of 6 people first battle the dangers and deceptions of the dungeon and then battle each other to the last group standing! We have many great Roleplaying Game Publishers coming to support, run and/or sell there wares in the Dealers Room this year. Along with Hero Games and Sovereign Press, we also will have Troll Lord Games, Goodman Games, and Chaosium Inc at KublaCon and we are excited about seeing them support the RPG areas at the Con. Of course, one of the best things about KublaCon are the PRIZES! We are also jazzed about prize support from companies like Wizards of the Coast, Mongoose Publishing, Steve Jackson Games, Days of Wonder and AEG to just name a few! Well that’s all we have for now. We can’t wait to see all of you folks at the Con, but until then, take care and take it easy!

Chuckling Cthulhu is running "Wandering Traveler", a story in the new Battlestar Galactica universe. One World by Night, for the sixth year running at KublaCon, will present their 3-night Vampire LARP, hosted by Always Comes Evening. In addition, they are running what they call their "Brownbag Session" - play the servants that keep the Vampires safe and enforce their whims in the mortal world. Lux Tenebras, another chapter of One World by Night, will run their 2-day Sabbat event, and as is true of all OWbN events at KublaCon, there is always room for new players to interact in their unique version of the World of Darkness. "Farewell to the Flesh" is a LARP set in 19th century New Orleans, and as the GMs will remind you, they "can't make this stuff up!" Historical content makes this event a must-do. You will remember T and Danielle from last year's Firefly LARP. "A Light from the North" is a Steampunk LARP, set in Victorian England. An excellent opportunity to dust off that top hat and corsette and explore a Europe that never happened. Murder mysteries are a favorite genre for con LARPs, but Kurt Horner presents a twist in setting - "Final Orbit" is set upon a space station orbitting Jupiter, and that orbit is decaying rapidly. And on the subject of new twists to old stories, the classic game of thrones is played out among superheroes in "Heroes League Reborn". Costuming for this one should be interesting. Dreams of Dierdre once again have put together a story that seldom gets told in "Lockdown". Disparate personalities wage a war of words in the wake of global change. You can find out more about this LARP at http://www.dreamsofdeirdre.org. And finally, a new-comer to LARP GMing, Ryan Hart presents "The Morr-Stepper of Lloegyr". I don't know what it's about (except that the setting is Fantasy), but I do know Ryan. Support his efforts and look forward to a unique view of Con LARPing. If you've never LARPed before, this is the year to begin!" Dave O. Open Gaming 2006 is a very special KublaCon year for me! After many years as a player and GM, this is my first Con to put on ‘The Vest’. It is very exciting for me to be the first to hold the position of Open Gaming Coordinator. This year Open Gaming will feature scheduled game tournaments, prize raffles, and live Internet Radio broadcasting events. Keep an eye out for an erratum insert detailing OG Events! I’d like you to think back to the first time you taught someone how to play (insert classic game title) and they were instantly hooked? Do you remember how great that felt? I have the pleasure of introducing a large group of computer gamers into our little world of tables, dice, pens & paper. I can hardly wait to meet and welcome all the members of the Justice Radio/CoH/CoV Community who are traveling to Kubla from all over the country and several international visitors too! Clearly, this will be the best KublaCon to date for me. I hope the same for you! KUBLA!!! Michael ‘Azmyth’ Azzolino - OGC Special Events Movies come to KublaCon! When: Sunday, 9pm Where: Sandpebble C Join us for a fun evening of movies. This year's screening will include "Swordplay" (Dir. Eric Power), a Delray Beach Film Festival select movie, a couple works from Dead Gentlemen Production including "The Gamers", "Dead Camper Lake", and, if it is completed in time, "Revamping Doyle"! And this all is kicked off with the Dungeon Majesty gang showing the episode they shot last year at KublaCon, a raffle, and screenings of other episodes of theirs!! And... we may even let Japji screen "Mather Magic" -- a fantasy adventure starring a talking tadpole! See you at the shows and don't forget to bring popcorn! KublaCon Open Ceremony When: Friday, 7:45pm Where: Grand Foyer Join us to celebrate the beginning of KublaCon 2006! This year's Opening Ceremony will include Special Guest introductions, shouts of Kubla! and good cheer. The Special Guests will then be relaxing and talking to con goers up at the Atrium bar. Rumor has it Kubla himself might just make an appearance! KUBLA! Best regards, Jeff Wilcox Collectable Card Games The Collectables department is busy gearing things up for KublaCon 2006, it's almost here! We want to thank all of the volunteers, GM's, attendees, and judges that have helped us throughout the year to create a wonderful events program. They have been an integral part of KublaCon, and without them much of what you see at KublaCon couldn't happen. Card Design Contest Have a card design for a CCG that you think would be cool, funny, or both? Come buy the Registration Desk at any time and pick up an entry form to submit your idea. Drop off your entry before 11 a.m. on Monday. Winners will be announced at noon. Two prizes will be given, one for best design and another for best art (you can have your art on another piece of paper). Design will be judged on playability. Magic: The Gathering Standard (Type II) Contructed; DCI Sanctioned - Friday 3:00pm Got a Standard(type 2) deck? bring it here and test your skills against other players in this DCI sanctioned Tournament. Check out our CMBG events and all of our CCG events! Miniatures Greetings fellow gamers, We’re now only 19 days away from KublaCon and I know the rest of you are furiously painting, writing, and putting the finishing touches on your events. I’m sitting down to write this in-between painting miniatures and making terrain for my own events and as soon as I’m done it back to the painting table, no rest for the weary. We’ve got some great events and special guests lined up for you again this year. Events include the 10th Anniversary of the Golden Gargant, Warmachine, Starship Troopers, Games Workshop, the KublaCon Painting Contest, and tournaments such as Warhammer Ancient Battles and Flames of War. Our special guests include old friends like Andy Chambers, Dana Lombardy, Simon MacKenzie, and Charles Sharp; but we also have some new faces this year like Matthew Sprange who is flying out across the pond to join us this year. The Miniatures Team has put a lot of hard work and dedication into this year’s KublaCon to bring you some of the most exciting four days of gaming there are. I want to thank Jon Caudill and Wayne Rogers for their hard word and support this year. While the KublaCon staff is the most visible aspect of the convention, the unsung heroes are the game masters. KublaCon wouldn’t be what it is without the dedication of the game masters and their events. So if you enjoyed your game take a moment to thank them for their hard work and let them know how much fun you had. So, paint those miniatures, sharpen those pencils, and make sure you have your lucky dice because you’re in for a real treat this year. I, and the rest of the KublaCon Miniatures Team, will see you in a few weeks. Game on! Jason Ellis, Miniatures Coordinator
