Welcome to our Twelfth issue of the Khannections Newsletter!

Greeting and Salutations to you one and all!

We hope that each and every one of you has had a pleasant and prosperous holiday season and new years. But for now, it’s time for the KublaCon staff to come out of their winter hibernation and get cracking on putting together another year of the biggest game convention in the west for all you nice folks. It seems just like yesterday that we were saying hello to you at the Burlingame Hyatt and having a blast at KublaCon 06 and POOF, time to get ready for 2007!

So let’s get on to some news and info for your perusal.

Volunteering and GM's

It does take a very large amount of time and work to put together our convention so we are already looking for people to put their names in the hat for volunteering for next year.
We now have a new webpage where you can sign up for your volunteer time online. You can visit it here. If you don't already have an online account, you'll need to make one. Then just log into your account, search for various volunteer tasks, and check the ones that you're interested in doing. Angel, our Volunteer Coordinator, will monitor your requests... and assign people to tasks between now and KublaCon. You'll be able to search and view your task requests... and your task assignments. Check it out!

Our website is now open for your game submissions. We can't implore you enough to make sure to get your games in as early as you can to make sure you not only get a good spot for your game, but to make sure you even have a chance to get your game in. We again had to turn away games for KublaCon 06 as both the RPG and Board Game departments had run out of room well before the April deadline. We suspect this year will be no different. So get those games in as soon as you can!!!

KublaCon pins for 2007

We are now in our Seventh year in the KublaCon tradition of annual pins. Brandon L. McKinney creates another whimsical Kubla Mascot in a style so secret… so... sneaky… so… lurking in the dark… That we can't even say what it is! Pins come in five colors, with each color signifying a different type of bearer. What ever you do do NOT click here to see our super sneakrit pins!

He's either a genious! Or totally daffy... YOU make the call...

Read our news item about KublaCon's entry into the 3D virtual world of Second life - and the creation of KublaConia.

"So let me introduce to you, the one and only Billy Shears..."

This month's ten questions comes from a new member of our team. He's also a team member that hails from another reality... a virtual reality. Let us introduce you to our Second Life architect and designer for KublaConia, Trenton Welles.

Kubla Staff Sightings

For our Bay area readers, DunDraCon is this weekend (you ARE going to DunDraCon, right?) and several of our local Staff members are attending. They won’t bite much! I am sure they wouldn’t even mind if you offered to buy them a drink, or lunch or let them win at that new game they just got at the Dealer’s room. So don’t be afraid and say hi! You can get more info about DunDraCon by visiting here!
If you hail from further northwest, check out ConQuestNW in Bellevue Washington. Wherever you are... play some games and have fun!

And speaking of biting.. Blaaaa! I vant to suck your blooood...

Yes we get many attendees coming to the convention THINKING they are Vampires, but we have some real blood suckers coming to the Con. KublaCon is once again sponsoring a blood drive by Stanford Blood Center. Please help us help others and participate. Each donor will receive a cloisonné pin designed by Robert Heinlein for the first Science Fiction blood drive 31 years ago and KublaBucks to use in our Prize Vault!

Our 7th Annual Game Design Contest

Our first six years were an incredible success for the design contest. As a matter of fact, Zack and Amanda Greenvoss' winning entry from 2001, Phoenix, is still available, and one of our contest winners Jodi Soares is a published game designer as well with Russian Rails from Mayfair Games. If you want to submit a game... read ALL of the instructions here. Good luck... and have fun!

Flea Market

OK, let loose the mass of humanity and find those deals! The Flea Market is once again going to run on Friday night and Monday morning. The flea market takes place in the Grand Ballroom... right near the dealer's room and these spacious digs will ensure plenty of buyers, many sellers, and tons of games to choose from! We encourage you to make your weekend plans such that you can enjoy these two popular events. You can go to these to links to get more info Fun Friday Flea Market! Monster Monday Flea Market!

Well Folks, that's it for now. Look for our next exciting issue coming out soon. Until then, take care and happy gaming!

Thanks! :o)

KublaCon does NOT sell, rent or share its mailing list with anyone else! Please feel free to send this email to your friends and help us spread the word on how fun KublaCon is. Grandma Bost says: "You can grow up, but whatever you do, don't ever grow old." and we can do that by playing more games! OK Japji, let’s sing it like the Beatles! Little darlin' the smiles returning to their faces.  Little darlin' it seems like years since it's been here. Here comes the Con! Here comes the Con! And I say it's all right!!!

Go Kubla! :o)
