Welcome to our Thirteenths issue of the Khannections Newsletter!

Greeting and Salutations to you one and all!

KublaCon is flying in at us really quickly. In fact our game submission deadline is April 1st and some of our Coordinators are running out of room for new games (especially the RPG and Boardgame departments!). If you want to have any chance to have your game considered for KublaCon’s schedule, get them in as soon as you can.

Ok on to the news!

Big Boardgame News!

We just absolutely LOVE Days of Wonder! Not only are they great guys and they make some of the best games in the world. Not only are they coming to KublaCon again to be in the Dealers Room and show off all of their wonderful games. But they have just announced that they will have the World Debut of their newest boardgame Coliseum right here at KublaCon!!! Be one of the first people anywhere to play what looks to be another smash hit game!

Once again KublaCon plays host to the Regional Settlers of Catan Tournament where more than 100 attendees will be able to participate.  And don’t forget, the winner gets a seat in the Semi-finals at the Nationals at Origins in Columbus, Ohio. So be sure to come to KublaCon and play for your chance to win the big one!

Visit KublaCon 24 hours a day? 365 days a year???

The KublaCon Game convention is the largest gaming convention on the West Coast of the United States. Each year on Memorial Day weekend, over 2000 gamers come together to play all sorts of board games, roleplaying, live action, miniature and family games.

But now you can visit us ANYTIME you like in our virtual world, KublaConia! It resides in Linden Lab’s Second Life as a 24/7 gaming convention. KublaConia is under construction... but even now ll sorts of fun awaits: games to play, Klub Kubla, Miniature Golf, and fascinating places to visit and explore, KublaConia is an international gathering place for fans of all types of gaming. You can get all of the info, construction reports and screen images of it here: http://www.kublaconsl.com/

KublaCon also has a new webpage on My Space. Join us there in a collection of friends who want to share pictures, stories and news about the greatest convention of all! You can visit us here: http://www.myspace.com/kublacon

Department Reports

With less then 3 weeks before the Event Submittal deadline, the events are coming in at “ludicrous speed” (and no, we can’t slow down first!). Let’s take a look at this month's department reports to see what kind of cool things that are in store for this year…

Register now! And a reminder... Event submissions close April 1st!

Up until April 15th, you can save on the price of a full weekend admission. Visit our secure online shopping cart and sign up now! And if you plan to run a game.. April 1st is the cutoff for submitting your event!

The Bazaar of Baghdad

Another year and another Dealers Room with more Vendors then you can shake a wand of lightning bolts at. Days of Wonder and Mongoose publishing are just a few of the great dealers displaying their wares in our Dealers Room. You can check out the full list of them here.

So let me introduce you to the one and only Billy Shears..

Total chaos? Stampede? Mass hysteria? Tornados, floods earthquakes AND hurricanes? No, none of those things are actually happening in the Young Player’s room (it just might SEEM that way!). But at the center of this cacophony is our “quiet eye of the storm” Young Players Room Coordinator. We still can’t figure out how she has kept her sanity for all of these years (but rumor has it she just LOVES her martial arts classes for some reason). So here is this month’s 10 questions victim. Please say hi to Becky Thomas!

Kubla Staff... New and as GREAT as ever!

We have a few new faces (and some returning ones) for KublaCon this year to help out with the madness and mayhem of running the show and several of our Staff have moved into other positions at the Con. Here’s a list for those of you keeping score at home…

Alicia Hansen has moved from our Beginners’ Track to take over as our new Open Gaming Coordinator.

Amy Jones is a new Staffer helping out at the Registration Desk.

Andrew Lockwood has returned to us and is part of the Hospitality Team.

Erica Gifford is a new Staffer who will be taking over our new Beginners’ Track Coordinator.

Jay Fitch is a new Staffer helping out as one of the RPG Assistant Coordinators.

Jessemay Pollack is a new Staffer helping out as an Assistant in the Young Player’s room.

Kevin O’Hare is reprising his role as Lord of the Tabletop Board Games area.

Rob Hetherington is a new Staffer helping out as the new Collectible Card Game Assistant

Stephen Kendall is a new Staffer helping out as the RPGA Assistant Coordinator.

Thomas Rafalski is a new Staffer and is part of the Hospitality Team.

Tony Rivera is returning to us and reprising his role as the Collectible Miniature Boardgame Assistant.

Now despite all these new faces and changes, we STILL have one more opening in the Staff that could possibly be filled by YOU. Yes you, the one sitting in front of the monitor there. We are looking for someone to help out with the Miniatures area. We would of course prefer to have someone who is passionate about Mini’s (so if you have hundreds of unpainted Mini’s in your house, you qualify!) and has experience as either a GM and/or running Mini events before. If you are interested, please contact us as soon as possible (either jason@kublacon.com or events@kublacon.com).

Well, that’s it for this exciting episode of Khannections! Stay tuned for our next informative issue and thanks again for taking the time to read our newsletter. We’ll see you at the Con real soon!

Thanks! :o)

The Fine Print:

KublaCon does NOT sell, rent or share its mailing list with anyone else so please feel free to send this email to your friends and help us spread the word on how fun KublaCon is!  Grandma Bost says: "You can grow up, but whatever you do, don't ever grow old." and we can do that by playing more games!  OK Japji, let’s sing it like the Eagles!  Welcome to the Hotel Hyatt Burlingame. It’s so really nice, look at all the dice! Plenty of games at the Hotel Hyatt Burlingame. Any time of day, you can always play!

Go Kubla! :o)
