Welcome to our Sixteenth issue of the Khannections Newsletter!

Greeting from KublaCon to all of our readers!

KublaCon is flying in at us really quickly. In fact our game submission deadline is April 4th and some of our Coordinators are running out of room for new games (especially the RPG and Boardgame departments!). If you want to have any chance to have your game considered for KublaCon’s schedule, get them in as soon as you can
(don’t pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to our Game Submission Page!!!).

Don’t forget, you can still pre-register NOW!  You can save $10 (that’s a whopping 20%) off the full four day pass if you register by April 15th. So that is only $40 for all four days of gaming goodness! And as usual, parents will receive an additional $10 off their weekend pass when they register with a fully paid child. You can get more info in this on our getting ready page.

Ok on to the news!

Department Reports!

With less then a week before the Event Submittal deadline, the events are coming in at “ludicrous speed” (and no, we can’t slow down first!). Let’s take a look at this month's department reports to see what kind of cool things that are in store for this year…

Will Smith only had to PRETEND to deal with blood suckers!!!

We’ve got the REAL thing! KublaCon is once again sponsoring a blood drive by Stanford Blood Center. Please help us help others and participate. Each donor will receive a cloisonné pin designed by Robert Heinlein for the first Science Fiction blood drive 32 years ago and some KublaBucks to use in our Prize Vault!

Catan Tournament

Once again KublaCon plays host to the Regional Settlers of Catan Tournament where more than 100 attendees will be able to participate.  And don’t forget, the winner gets a seat in the Semi-finals at the Nationals at Origins in Columbus, Ohio and up to $900 in travel expense reimbursement. So be sure to come to KublaCon and play for your chance to win the big one!

Register now! And a reminder... Event submissions close April 4th!

Up until April 15th, you can save on the price of a full weekend admission. Visit our secure online shopping cart and sign up now! And if you plan to run a game.. April 1st is the cutoff for submitting your event!

KublaCon Pins for 2008

We are now in our Eighth year in the KublaCon tradition of annual pins. Tim Heuskin makes his debut pin design to match the style of his whimsical cover art. Kubla in outer space with his rocket pack and lazer gun! Pins come in five colors, with each color signifying a different type of bearer: So click here to get a sneak peek at our Rocket Man pins!

So let me introduce you to the one and only Billy Shears..

Well, let’s see. Hmmm… Who will be our guinea pig this month, I know, the new guy! The one who has no idea what’s in store for him as being one of the newest and youngest Staffers on the team. We even tried to convince him that he needs to buy us coffee and danish every morning, and that plan would have worked too if it weren’t for those meddling kids! So here is this month’s 10 questions victim. Please say hi to our new Miniatures Coordinator, Jordan Walraven!

Kubla Staff... New and as GREAT as ever!

We have a few new faces (and some returning ones) for KublaCon this year to help out with the madness and mayhem of running the show and several of our Staff have moved into other positions at the Con. Here’s a list for those of you keeping score at home…

Darby Keenan is a new Staffer helping out at the Registration Desk.

Dawn Devine is a new Staffer and is heading up our Hospitality Team.

Lydia Stacey is a new Staffer and will be Japji’s Assistant.

Alexis Randall will be taking over as Director of Operations.

Jay Fitch will be taking over the roll of Collectable Games Coordinator.

Lee Keenan is a new Staffer helping out as the new Collectible Card Game Assistant.

Ben Matzen is taking over as Collectible Miniature Boardgame Assistant.

David Cunkelman is a new staffer and will be a Table Top Boardgame Assistant.

Vern Roberts and Brian Williams are switching roles this year as the new Roleplaying game Lead and Assistant Coordinators respectively.

Jeffery Yin is back and is helping out in Roleplaying once again.

Jordan Walraven is a new staffer and is our Miniatures Coordinator.

Roderick Robertson is a new staffer and is one of our Miniatures Assistant Coordinators.

Clif Castle is a new staffer and is our Historical Minis Assistant.

Rennie Saunders is a new staffer and is will be our Special Events Assistant Coordinator.

Now despite all these new faces and changes, we STILL have one more opening in the Staff that could possibly be filled by YOU. Yes you, the one sitting in front of the monitor there. We are looking for someone to help out with the Hospitality Department. Your Job would be to serve Japji and be at his beckon call… Well, ok we wouldn’t want to submit ANYONE to that! But you would be helping out the Staff by making sure they get snacks and beverages while they are working at their individual areas and be in charge of the super secret “Brown Room”. If you are interested, please contact us as soon as possible!

Well, that’s it for this exciting episode of Khannections! Stay tuned for our next informative issue and thanks again for taking the time to read our newsletter. We’ll see you at the Con real soon!

Thanks! :o)

David Gabriel and Japji Khalsa

The Fine Print:

KublaCon does NOT sell, rent or share its mailing list with anyone else so please feel free to send this email to your friends and help us spread the word on how fun KublaCon is!  Grandma Bost says: "You can grow up, but whatever you do, don't ever grow old." and we can do that by playing more games!  OK Japji, let’s sing it like the Eagles!  Welcome to the Hotel Hyatt Burlingame. It’s so really nice, look at all the dice! Plenty of games at the Hotel Hyatt Burlingame. Any time of day, you can always play!

Go Kubla! :o)
