1. Tell us a little about yourself... I have been gaming for over 40 years and attending Game Conventions for over 35 years. Started with historical miniatures, then historical board games (Avalon Hill and SPI), D&D, and then most RPG's, and most Sci-Fi and Fantasy miniatures. I have been involved with the RPGA for over 10 years I was a game store owner for over 10 years and have been a Director of a major non-profit for the last 20 years. I still play D&D, Warhammer 40K, GW War of The Rings, historical mini's, and a bunch of other fun things.
2. What do you do at KublaCon? I am the RPGA Coordinator 3. How did you get involved with KublaCon and how long have you been here? Six years as staff, participant since the first year. Attended or was a staff member of all the previous conventions held over the Memorial day weekend (including Manafest, Game Caucus I and II). 4. What motivates you and what rewards to you get out of being involved with KublaCon? Seeing people having fun, seeing new players joining the RPGA and having fun. Seeing our hobby grow both in numbers and understanding.. 5. What is your earliest gaming or game convention memory? Earliest gaming: 1967 playing miniatures with Airfix plastic mini's using Charles Grant's and Donald Featherstone's first books on miniature wargaming. Earliest game convention - playing D&D at the first Dundracon. 6. What is your favorite gaming or game convention memory? Playing the Battle of Borodino on a massive 1/20 scale with 15 mm miniatures and Empire 3 rules at a convention. Nothing like seeing over 5,000 miniatures on great terrain over 12 tables. 7. What is your least favorite gaming or game convention memory? Not enough judges, too many players in too small an area for D&D games. (10 games, 80 players and judges in an area that should only have 5-6 games max) - This did not happen at a KublaCon btw! 8. Give us a top 3 list of your favorite games and tell us your least favorite game. Favorite: Dungeons and Dragons (all editions), Warhammer 40K and World of the Rings, Memoir '44. Least favorite: GDW Europa - never enough room, players, or time to play all of it. 9. Where do you currently play games and what do you play when you are there? Endgame (In Oakland): D&D 4th Ed, Warhammer 40K, GW War of The Rings 10. If you could tell all of the KublaCon attendees something, what would it be? Try something new. KublaCon has such a wide variety of gaming that are a bunch of new things to try - everything from card games, Miniatures, Board games, tons of RPG's, LARP's and more |
