|
1. Tell us a little about yourself... My name is Mike Eckert and I am a gamer to the bone. I am as close to being a Bay Area native without actually having been born here. I just moved back to my beloved Bay Area and I really see what I was missing!
2. What do you do at KublaCon? I am the KublaCon Prize Lord and Volunteer Coordinator. 3. How did you get involved with KublaCon and how long have you been here? I am actually one of the progenitors of KublaCon. I owned GameCon while Japji and Anthony owned ManaFest. We all used to visit each others conventions. During that time we noticed that each con had some of what makes a GREAT convention BUT they each had unique and specific focus. Japji and I got to talking one evening and we came to the conclusion that if we joined forces to create one convention it would be the BEST convention around. So KublaCon was born and I dare say it IS the best convention for all types of gaming! 4. What motivates you and what rewards to you get out of being involved with KublaCon? KublaCon is all about having FUN! This is the primary reason I volunteer for KC. I have fun helping our attendees have FUN! 5. What is your earliest gaming or game convention memory? My earliest game convention memories were in the mid-80's at PacifiCon of old. I miss the magic of the Dunfey. 6. What is your favorite gaming or game convention memory? At ManaFest in 1999, Dwarven Forge had recently released their geomorphic dungeon tiles and we had acquired several sets to use for the very first Mega Dungeon crawl. I had written the adventure for it and was all set to run at it the show. Except for a set of dice. So I quickly borrowed a set of dice and got there to run the event. It was a LOT of fun, but I was slaughtering the party. The same thing happened to the next several groups that came through! It was only then did I realize, that the set of dice I had was not a regular set, but a Formula De set! (The D20 in FD only has numbers 13-20.) 7. What is your least favorite gaming or game convention memory? My least favorite memory was a flight from hell to get to my first GENCON. It took 16 hours to get there and I got there with seconds to spare before running an RPGA game for the con. 8. Give us a top 3 list of your favorite games and tell us your least favorite game. 9. Where do you currently play games and what do you play when you are there? I just moved back to the Bay Area last year but I already started a new meet up group to play DnD 4.0. 10. If you could tell all of the KublaCon attendees something, what would it be? I would just tell all of our attendees that I love what this community has done for gaming in the area and gaming on a much larger scale. I often stand up near Knuckles looking down at the thousands of you there and just think to myself, "Good times people, Good times!" So all in all go forth and have FUN! |
