Whoa!!!! Here's the link to Issue Twenty-FIVE for 2012!
Hello to all of our fans! We hope everyone has been doing well over Holiday season and everyone’s had a prosperous new year so far. Now that we are getting into official KublaCon season, our Staff has started to wake up from their long winters nap to get this years show jumping and jiving for all to enjoy!
So let’s get on to some news and info for your reading pleasure.
Up until February 28th, you can save $15 on your visit to KublaCon. So for only $35 dollars you can enjoy all 4 days at this years shindig! And since we love to have families at the show, parents registering with a paid child save $10 more (so that makes it only $60 for both one parent and one child when registering together)!
We've been hard at work to make your registration experience as smooth as possible. So we've tidied up the shopping cart and check out pages.
And now.. you can pay with PAYPAL and Discover!
You can get your weekend pass to KublaCon by visiting our secure online shopping cart and sign up now!
You say you are an UBER KublaCon fan? You can’t wait till Memorial Day weekend and you want to be the first one at the show? You love us so much that you want to come each and every year? Well, we have the Magic Golden Ticket for you!
We are now offering Lifetime Memberships for only $499. Not only will this get you a free pass for the rest of your life to KublaCon, but there will be plenty of other perks that will only be available to our lifetime members.
You can get all the details of our Lifetime Membership program here!
We do have a two spots open in our Collectable Card Games department and are looking for folks to fill them. If you have a love for everything that is CCG (Magic, Warlord, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.) then please contact us (events @ kublacon.com) as soon as you can so we can talk to you about what is involved and getting on board.
It does take a very large amount of time and work to put together our convention so we are always looking for people to put their names in the hat for volunteering for the show. If you put in 4 hours of volunteer time, you will get a shiny green KublaCon pin, and if you put in 8 hours, you will also get your admission cost refunded to you!
We have a webpage where you can sign up for your volunteer time online and you can visit it here. If you don’t already have an online account, you’ll need to make one. Then just log into your account, search for various volunteer tasks, and check the ones that you’re interested in doing. Mike Eckert, our Volunteer Coordinator, will monitor your requests… and assign people to tasks between now and KublaCon. You’ll be able to search and view your task requests… and your task assignments. Check it out!
Our website is now open for your game submissions. We can’t implore you enough to make sure to get your games in as early as you can to make sure you not only get a good spot for your game, but to make sure you even have a chance to get your game in. We again had to turn away games for KublaCon 10 as both the RPG and Board Game departments had run out of room well before the April 1st deadline. We suspect this year will be no different. So get those games in as soon as you can!!!
So they can get really busy and even pinned down in their respective departments and sometimes can’t even get away for a bite to eat!
But there is no need to fear, our Hospitality Department is here!
They swoop down to the rescue and make sure our Staff is given snacks and drinks to keep their energy up! And one of the very nice people who works in Hospitality is this issue's Ten Questions victim. So with no further ado, please meet Jen Munns.
With more gaming goodness then you can shake a stick and prizes & surprises every where you turn; it’s never too early to start planning your pilgrimage to KublaCon 2011. Whether you’re an attendee, GM, or volunteer visit our Getting Ready page on how you can get started now!
For our Bay Area readers, DunDraCon is on President’s Day weekend (18th-21st) and several of our local Staff members are planning on attending. They are usually a very friendly bunch, especially if you offer to buy them a drink, or a bite to eat, or even let them win at that new game they just got at the Dealer’s room. So don’t be afraid and say hi! You can get more info about DunDraCon by visiting here!
Our first seven years were an incredible success for the design contest. In fact, several of our past winning contestants have gone on to get their games published. If you want to submit a game… read ALL of the instructions here. Good luck… and have fun!
Steampunk has long been a fun setting for many roleplaying games over the years. So we have decided to fashion this year’s collector pins in that genre. Not only that, we have decided to let the ladies in on the fun and will for the first time have a pin with a lady featured on it dressed up in a stately steampunk style. Not only that, but we will have a VERY special color this year to help one of our own (more on that below).
So be on the lookout for these pins once we get them up on our website (coming really soon)!
Once we've finalized the art, you can see all the colors of this year's pin here!
Richard Borg is just one of the many special guests that have told us they want to come to our show. Richard is a game designer best known for the Command and Colors System, but also well regarded for many other designs. Borg had his first game, Liars Dice, published in 1987 by Milton Bradley. This design was later republished as Bluff by FX Schmid in 1993 and went on to win the 1993 Spiel des Jahres. Borg continued in game design through the 90s, eventually introducing the Command and Colors system in 2000 with Battle Cry.
Our other confirmed guests include Richard Berg, Dana Lombardy and Charles Sharp.
You can check out our Special Guests page here!
As mentioned above, one of our favorite Staff members needs your help! Becky Thomas, who heads up our Young Players room, has developed breast cancer and we are doing whatever we can to help her through this trying time in her life. So we are having several fund raisers now and through KublaCon to help her out with her medical expenses.
When you register, you can now make a donation directly to Becky from the KublaCon shopping cart page. Enter any amount you want over $10 and we'll forward that on to her in her fight against cancer.
We will have a very special Pink Kubla Pin this year with all proceeds going to her.
Kat Scoggin, another of our wonderful Young Players Staff members, is quite the crafty one and is making a special dice bags with Kubla’s embroidered on it - available at this year's KublaCon. She is even making a DunDraCon dice bag as well and will have a limited supply for sale at that show.
Khalsa Brain Games has been selling limited editions of their newly re-minted two player SpellGrounds mat. These special mats are printed in pink ink and only ten have been made. You can place an eBay bid on number FOUR of TEN here.

Well Folks, that’s it for now. Look for our next exciting issue coming out soon. Until then, take care and happy gaming!

The Fine Print:
KublaCon does NOT sell, rent or share its mailing list with anyone else! Please feel free to send this email to your friends and help us spread the word on how much fun KublaCon is. Grandma Bost says: “You can grow up, but whatever you do, don’t ever grow old.” and we can do that by playing more games!
OK folks, normally we make up a funny little song to put into this space, but not this time around. This time all we want to do is give Becky our BEST hopes, prayers and well wishes for her fight against cancer and hope that she gives it her best “evil eye” and drop kicks it into oblivion. Go Becky!!!
Go Kubla! =)
