Role Playing: There were many fun things to do at KublaCon 2005 and here are just a few of the highlights that the RPG Staff enjoyed... Keith Baker: The highlight of the convention for the RPG staff was the creator of Eberron campaign, Keith Baker. Not only was Keith a fountain of fun and full of energy, he's an all around great guy. He also turned out to be a fantastic and wonderful GM (but then most of us could have already guessed that one!). Both of his Eberron games were raved about by the lucky people who got into the event and we have an early word of promise from Keith that he'll be at KublaCon 2006. Dungeon Majesty: The Gorgeous Girls of Dungeon Majesty and their Dungeon Master extraordinaire were at the convention filming for their next exciting episode also ended up playing lots of games and just generally hanging out and having a good time. Of course our very own Kubla could not resist getting his massive frame into the frame of their camera (we can only hope he makes into their show!). The group also says they had a great time and are planning on making an Encore performance next year as well! Dwarven Forge: Our Mega Dungeon crawl was another huge success thanks to a gaggle of guys. So thank to Steve at Troll Lord for supplying another excellent adventure and Darius, Jude, Nathan, Russ and Scott (who literally came in at the last minute to help out!) for running the events so well. And of course, the biggest event of all, the Catacombs of Menzoberranzan! Rory, Richard, Chris, Vern, and Jay had a spectacular event that was almost standing room only! And with a mountain of KublaBucks as the prize, the fighting (between the Player Characters of course) was ferocious for the whole evening. Look for them to be back in '06 for another exciting run! This and much more will be part of the fun and frivolity that KublaCon 06 will have in store. Just a few bits o' business though. Because KublaCon is growing so fast, we had a problem with having room for all of the events that our Game Masters wanted to submit. In fact, we had to turn away almost 20 games just because we had run out of room when these GM's tried to submit their games late. So PLEASE, if you want to run an RPG game at KublaCon this year, get them in as SOON as you can. Event submissions are open now! As always, we are on the look out for D20 and Cthulhu games. So tell your friends to get those games in now! In the mean time, please let us know if you need anything or have any questions. Thanks! Jeffery Yin Shout Out for Your Help! The Young Players Room has grown steadily for the last 2 years. Help us make the Young Player's Room of 2006 even better than before! We're looking for help coming up with scheduled events for kids ages 8 - 13. Wanted: GMs to run ANY kinds of events! RPGs - Kids are ready! help them learn! Any system you run can be run with kids. You may need to simplify the rules a little, and definitely have pre-generated characters for them. CCMGs - Kids love this stuff! We could use the most help here! We have very little CCMG support or materials for the YP room, your help and materials would be really appreciated. CCGs - of course - any and all of them! We could use the most help here! We have no CCG players or materials in our core volunteer group. Spend a couple of hours in the YP room running your favorite CCG with new players. You'll need to bring a few starter decks or prepared decks for the kids. Board Games - We've got a bunch, and the staff to run them, but if you have a favorite, come help us out! If you don't want to run a game, lend us your board game for the Con - we'll get it back intact, and your game will help the next generation of board gamers get started. Miniatures! Tons of fun with the kids. Troy Gann runs Warhammer 40K demos for kids. They love them! If you have a little time (about 2 hours) and some armies, please come and help the kids learn about Miniature Gaming! Please contact me so we can set up your event! Becky Thomas Young Player's Coordinator Tabletop Board games Tabletop has begun the process of planning some stellar events. These will include:
We would LOVE your input. If you are interested in being a GM for Tabletop, please submit your game request NOW rather than later. The schedule fills quickly, and we want to build a solid and diverse one. Thanks! Doug Garrett Miniatures games The KublaCon Miniatures Department is gearing up for another great convention next year. I can't reveal much at this point (its super top secret), but I can tell you that KublaCon 2006 is a very special year for one of our marquee events. Special Events -- the Flea Market! Monday's flea market was very successful! But, some of you KublaCon staffers attended ConQuest's Friday night flea market... and thought it was awesome! So... we're gonna' bring awesome to KublaCon... and have a Friday night flea market also. It'll start around 9pm and go 'til at least midnight.
