Good Day Sunshine! Hello to all of our readers. Here's hoping that you folks who live here in the SF Bay Area have had a chance to go out and enjoy the nice weather we have been having. And speaking of sunshine and smiles... KublaCon is racing to us at light speed and our Staff Members are getting all jiggy with it to get the Con all ready to go. So let's get on to some news and info for your perusal. Don't forget... early registration closes Feb 28. New Kids on the block We have a host of new faces here on the staff. Please help us welcome them quickly into the fold (at least before they realize what they have gotten themselves into and try to get out!)
Department Updates The events are coming in fast and furious with special events and guests galore. Here's a story, about a man named Brady... ...who was bringing up a bunch of ORLOCKS??? Yes, KublaCon has a very dedicated group of people who help out with ALL sorts of things at the convention and do a REALLY good job at it. Logistics? Security? Tour guide? You name it, they will help out. Here is the story of who they are and how they got their name. Our 6th Annual Game Design Contest! Our first five years were an incredible success for the design contest. As a matter of fact, Zack and Amanda Greenvoss' winning entry from 2001, Phoenix, is still available, and one of our contest winners Jodi Soares is a published game designer as well with Russian Rails from Mayfair Games. If you want to submit a game... read ALL of the instructions here. Good luck... and have fun! Kevin O'Hare in the news Our own Event Coordinator has found a bit of his 15 minutes of fame when he was interviewed for an AARP article about gaming for the older crowds. You can find the official online article here. Blaa! I Vant to suck your blood! Yes we get many attendees coming to the convention THINKING they are Vampires, but we have some real blood suckers coming to the Con. KublaCon is once again sponsoring a blood drive by Stanford Blood Center. Please help us help others and participate. Each donor will receive a cloisonné pin designed by Robert Heinlein for the first Science Fiction blood drive 30 years ago and five KublaBucks to use in our Prize Vault! The blood drive is Sunday... so check it out. Feed Back Forum Our Feed Back Forum is still up and we always appreciate good comments on our Convention (we have to help Japji's ego any way we can!). Of course, if you have any BAD comments or criticism you will have to write them on a special triplicate form and sent in a self-addressed stamped envelope... well, ok... you can put those up on our website as well (just tell Japji he is a really nice guy too!). So please take the time to fill in any of your comments, suggestions and/or concerns here! Our new Bulletin Board All of us at KublaCon believe our efforts - and gaming in general - are about building community. So we've set up a brand new Bulletin Board for any and all who would like to participate in expanding the community of gamers. Need a room mate to shack up with at the Con? Looking for a car pool to help get to the Con easier? Just want to see what's going on? Come visit our bulletin board!. Special Guests As always, KublaCon has many special guests that come to the Con just because it's plain ol' fun to do so. And this year's crop is bigger and better then ever before! See them here! Flea Market - Friday! Friday! Friday! ... and Monday too. OK, let loose the mass of humanity and find those deals! The Flea Market is back and we will have it for two days this year. Last year's amazing turn out both with sellers and with buyers created a great Monday morning event! But now we've doubled your fun by adding Friday night as well! So now there is a Fun Friday Flea Market to go along with the Monster Monday Flea Market. The flea market takes place in the Grand Ballroom... right near the dealer's room. These spacious digs will ensure plenty of buyers, many sellers, and tons of games to choose from! We encourage you to make your weekend plans such that you can enjoy this new format. So let me introduce to you... This month's victim is still technically a Rookie as he has only put in one year of service as our KublaCon Assistant Roleplaying Coordinator, but he was certainly one of our MVP's at helping us run KublaCon last year. So with no further ado, here is our very eager and helpful Newbie, Brian Williams... And that's a wrap... So, that's it for now. Thanks again for taking the time to read our newsletter. See you real soon! David Gabriel and Japji Khalsa. Oh... and here's a shot of a bunch of the staff at DundraCon!
The Fine Print: If you have any questions, comments or contributions for Khannections, you can reach the newsletter at: Khannections@KublaCon.com KublaCon does NOT sell, rent or share its mailing list with anyone else! Please feel free to send this email and help us spread the word on how fun KublaCon is. Grandma Bost says: "You can grow up, but whatever you do, don't ever grow old." and we can do that by playing more games! OK Japji, let's sing it like Neil Sedaka... If you go you won't be blue 'Cause KublaCon is fun to do... Go Kubla! :o)
